Nikon eyes 15pc revenue increase

Nikon Malaysia expects a 15 per cent increase in revenue with the launch of the Nikon Df and D5300 digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera models in Kuala Lumpur today.

"The newly-launched Df camera targets serious photographers and professional shooters, and is expected to be in the market next month," consumer products sales department general manager Hon Soon Teng told reporters after launching the new Nikon products.

Nikon Malaysia managing director Noriaki Yamaguchi said based on its Growth for Knowledge report in September this year, Nikon's local DSLR market share has reached 51 per cent.

"Nikon is also no. 1 in the total camera category which includes DSLR, mirror-less and digital compact cameras, with an overall market share of 34 per cent in September 2013," he added.

The company expects to sell 200 units of the Df model every month. The Df is priced from RM8,900 for camera body only and RM9,700 with a kit lens
