Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were lower in early trade today, tracking the further overnight decline on Wall Street, dealers said.
Five minutes into the opening, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 1.66 points to 1,780.83.
The Finance Index declined 2.09 points to 16,507.82, the Plantation Index dropped 15.71 points to 8,560.96, and the Industrial Index gained 0.59 of a point.
The FBM Emas Index shed 3.06 points to 12,417.52, the FBMT100 Index was 4.61 points lower at 12,142.48, but the FBM Ace added 4.03 points for 5,749.4 and the FBM 70 improved 22.08 points to 14,230.05.
Gainers led losers by 152 to 53 with 1,403 counters unchanged.
Total turnover stood at 92.224 million shares worth RM42.866 million.
Among the actives was MAS which edged up half sen to 34 sen and Permaju which improved three sen for 36.5 sen.
As for the heavyweights, Maybank was unchanged at RM9.73, while CIMB added one sen to RM7.48, and Petronas Chemicals slipped three sen to RM6.67.-
