KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory in early trading today after opening marginally lower, bolstered by positive performance on Wall Street on Friday, dealers said.
At 9.32 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was quoted 1.05 points higher at 1,805.53 after opening at 1,803.27.
Turnover stood at 321.668 million shares worth RM150.15 million.
Gainers edged losers by 235 to 124, with 223 counters unchanged, 1,031 untraded and 26 others suspended.
HwangDBS Vickers Research said buoyed by better economic growth expectations, major US stock indices rose between 1.1 per cent and 1.6 per cent at the closing bell.
The positive external vibes could lift the sentiments on Malaysian equities today. From a technical perspective, the benchmark FBM KLCI will probably pull further away from the psychological mark of 1,800 ahead.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index gained 26.221 points to 16,749.71, the Plantation Index earned 0.57 of a point to 8,622.38, while the Industrial Index dipped 5.64 points to 3,100.34.
The FBM Emas Index rose 11.49 points to 12,570.32, the FBMT100 Index shed 10.20 points to 12,291.87, and the FBM Ace was 11.76 points higher at 5,884.77.
The FBM 70 gained 24.479 points to 14,327.09.
Among actives, Managepay Systems-Warrant earned half-a-sen to 45 sen while Sumatec Res Bhd added two sen to 28.5 sen.
As for heavyweights, Maybank gained three sen to RM9.92 and CIMB climbed two sen to RM7.64
