Khazanah appoints Charon as KRiS MD

Datuk Charon Mokhzani has been appointed managing director of the newly established Khazanah Research Institute (KRiS), effective today.

KRiS is separate from the existing Khazanah Research Division, which has been in operation since 2004.

The research institute will look at broader national issues as well as those related to Khazanah.

"We are pleased to have Charon on board as the Institute's managing director and look forward to his contributions," deputy chairman of Khazanah and chairman of KRiS, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said in a statement.

Charon, 49, was previously the deputy chief executive officer, Investment Banking, CIMB Group and the chief executive officer of CIMB Investment Bank.

He read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Balliol College,
University of Oxford, and Law at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London
