Ringgit opens higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar for the second consecutive day on sustained demand for the local currency, said a dealer.

At 9.03am, the local unit was traded at 3.2555/2580 against the greenback from Monday's close at 3.2640/2670.

The ringgit is expected to trade between 3.2500 to 3.2700 against the greenback today.

The local note appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5870/5900 from 2.5886/5927 on Monday and rose against the yen to 3.1521/1551 from 3.1643/1688

yesterday.

The domestic currency also improved to 5.4240/4288 from 5.4271/4333 versus the British pound on Monday, and advanced to 4.4841/4882 from 4.4873/4918

against the euro.
