KL shares extend gains mid-morning

Shares on Bursa Malaysia extended gains to the mid-morning session today as buying interest emerged after recent losses, dealers said.

At 11.02am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 3.19 points to 1,850.95, after opening 0.94 of a point lower at 1,846.82.

In terms of market breadth, the gainer-to-loser ratio was 389 to 234, while 294 counters were unchanged, 691 untraded and 14 others suspended.

A total of 692.55 million shares valued at RM497.81 million were traded.

On the scoreboard, the Industrial Index added 7.39 points to 3,198.3, the Plantation Index climbed 21.83 points to 8,953.4, and the Finance Index jumped

20.11 points to 16,645.72.

The FBM Emas Index rose 24.99 points to 12,815.43, the FBMT100 Index improved 25.39 points to 12,470.24, and the FBM 70 advanced 41.91 points to

14,004.95, but the FBM Ace slipped 14.57 points to 6,735.92.

Among actives, Ingenuity Consolidated and R&A Telecommunication were flat at 10 sen and 4.5 sen respectively, Malaysian Airlines earned half-a-sen to 21.5

sen, but Salcon eased 1.5 sen to 74.5 sen.

As for the heavyweights, Maybank and Axiata were two sen lower each at RM9.65 and RM6.72 respectively, while Tenaga slid six sen to RM11.90. But CIMB

rose three sen to RM7.19.
